Our volunteers have been the lifeblood of our project. Since we began three years ago, we have had more than 2000 volunteers who have helped us in everything from our web site, to engineering and planning, to land clearing, to actual on-site construction. We extend our sincere thanks to the following organizations who have assisted us: Appalachian State University Here is a look at our volunteers in action: 7/15/05 Mountain Pathways School 10/09/04 ASU Cook Freshman Seminar 9/25/04 ACT Environmental Travelers 4/24/05 Wilkes Community College Energy Class 11/18/03 ACT Social Change Class 11/14/03 Lintott Environmental Ethics 5/02/03 Ashe Alternative School 4/14/03 Applied Greek Leadership Class 4/12/03 National Youth Service Day 1/20/03 ASU Martin Luther King Challenge Day 11/23/02 ASU Mini Act - Karen Delisle 11/19/02 ASU ACT Social Issues & Social Change Class 10/27/02 ASU Freshman Seminar - Jasmine Shoshanna 10/4/02 & 10/08/02 ASU Freshman Seminar - Rosa Powers 7/23/02 ASU Freshman Seminar -Summer Preview 4/21/02 ASU ACT - Earth Clean Up Day 4/20/02 National Youth Service Day 3/23/02 Greek Service Day - Blowing Rock Deconstruction 3/22/02 Wautauga College - Cole McVey 1/21/02 ASU ACT - Martin Luther King Challenge 11/16/01 Watauga College - Cole McVey 11/30/01 ASU Communications Class - Dr. Clark 11/04/01 ASU Freshman Seminar - Susan Reed 11/03/01 ASU Communications 1100 - Dr. Becky Sirmon 10/13/01 Caldwell Community College/ASU ACT - Make a Difference Day 9/6/01 Watauga College - Cole McVey 7/20/01 ASU Communications 1100 - Dr. Becky Sirmon 4/29/01 ASU Social Responsibilities in Management - Robin Byerly 4/28/01 Volunteer Outreach Center - National Youth Service Day 4/22/01 ASU Earth Day - Dottie Kizer 4/06/01 Watauga College - Cole McVey 4/04/01 ASU Social Responsibilities in Management - Robin Byerly 2/18/01 ASU Social Responsibilities in Management - Robin Byerly 10/01/00 Pfieffer College/Volunteer Outreach Center We are constantly looking for volunteers and can handle groups as small as one or two or as large as fifty. If you or your group would like to join us, please call to arrange it. Currently, most work is outdoors, physical, and a real kick. Groups have used our project to hone physical and communication skills, as a means of team building, to fulfill voluntary community service, or to just take a positive step to help protect the environment or learn about it. Whatever your motivation, we will be delighted to have you join us. Please call Gerry at (336) 877-1860 to make your reservation. We do have motels within fifteen minutes and can accomodate small camping groups.
