Sloan Valve

We explored every possibility of saving resources.  In the area of water we think we took some exciting steps.  Our potable water will come from a well pumped by a pneumatic windmill.  Our water pressure is created by gravity feed and we will create a gray water system to help us reuse some of the wash water for irrigation.  One really exciting product we discovered was a new concept toilet that would reduce water consumption up to fifty percent over cenventional toilets without sacrificing performance.  This toilet uses 1.1 gallons or 4.0 liters to flush.   This system eliminates clogging and helps keeps toilets cleaner due to the pressure.

The product is called Flushmate IVand was designed by Sloan Valve Company

Here are some of the facts:

1. Water Consumption -  Sloan Flushmate IV  1.1 Gallons     High efficiency toilets  1.6 Gallons  Standard Toilets   3.6 Gallons

2. Flushmate Quieter.  The Flushmate IV produces no more noise than a conventional gravity toilet.

3. Flushmate the most efficient toilet in the world.  No other system can match the consumption of water and performance.

4. Toilets are the largest consumer of water in a standard household.  Flushmate can reduce household toilet water consumption by 70%.

5. Flushmate system stores water in an internal pressure tank so there is virtually no tank sweating.

We are not talking about trivial amounts of water usage.  In a recent installation of these units at Hilton's Homewood Suites in Landsdale, PA, in a 170 room test, Flushmate replaced a high efficiency toilet.  The result was a projected reduction of total water consumption on annual basis of 894,672 gallons just for one hotel.  As you can see, these numbers can be significant on a big scale as well as in your home.
