Mountain Mission Farms Eco-Community Project has been blessed with the opportunity to inspire, interest, instruct over 2,500 students, friends, and neighbors since in began in 2001.  This opportunity has allowed us to present an alternative to traditional living.  It exemplifies this in living examples of land use planning, construction and farming.  Hopefully Mountain Mission Farms has inspired new generations to make 'earth shaking' changes in their lifestyle and purchasing habits.  The lessons learned become deep rooted when the volunteers participate, hands-on, in work projects such as brush clearing, planting bushes, and construction.  We are pleased to be instruments used to teach 'good stewardship' of the Earth's resources.

We are honored to have the following institutions represented:

Appalachian State University
North Carolina State University
Pfieffer College
Lees McRae College
Elon University
Caldwell Community College
Wilkes Community College
College of Charleston
Ashe County High School
Ashe Alternative School
Watauga High School
North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics

Mountain Mission Farms has been an ongoing educational resource to share concepts in 'green' construction, alternative energy systems, and sustainable agriculture.  Classes are held on-site, in the community, and at Wilkes Community College Ashe Campus.  Mountain Mission Farms is proud to have been a long-term partner with Appalachian State University ACT program, the university's service learning department, for the past five years.
